Toastmasters International is dedicated to making effective communication a worldwide reality. Since 1924, Toastmasters has been helping individuals of all backgrounds gain confidence and skill in their speaking and leadership abilities. By participating in Toastmasters, members learn how to:
Easily lead teams and conduct meetings
Give and receive constructive evaluations, and
Be a better listener
Whether leading meetings or teams at work, Bible studies at home, or PTA meetings at school, most of us will face the challenge sooner or later of speaking before groups of people.
At Ambassadors Toastmasters, we provide a safe and supportive setting to help you prepare for those times. Our meetings last just 90 minutes and consist of prepared speeches and opportunities to practice thinking on your feet through impromptu responses to questions known as Table Topics.
There are also a variety of roles to be filled in any given meeting, such as leading the Pledge of Allegiance, timing the speeches, or providing evaluations of a prepared speech. All activities are entirely voluntary and no one is required to participate more than they wish. If you decide to join after visiting a meeting or two, the cost to join is $60.55. This includes materials and the first 6 months' dues. After that, dues are $39 every 6 months. The club dues are minimal and go to pay for ribbons and badges. Ambassadors meets on the first and third Mondays of each month at 7 pm in Upper Kids Praise on the North Coast Church Melrose campus.
